Just a few minutes from the Clos de César,
the local market at le Coustelet takes place every Sunday morning. The Isle sur Sorgues, renowned for its antiques. Not forgetting, of course, the numerous villages perched on hilltops, for which the region is famed:
-Gordes a harmony of pastel shades; this pretty village is also home to beautiful château.
-Not far, the dales of Sénanque lead to a Cistercean abbey coiled amidst a sea of lavender.
-Ménerbes, host to Picasso and, more recently, to Peter Mayle, will enchant you with the spectacular views from her rocky peak.
-Lacoste whose fascination stems from the castle ruins - made infamous by the marquis de Sade.
-Bonnieux whose terraced roofs and cobbled alleys never cease to climb and fall.
-The coombs of Bonnieux which lead to the town of Lourmarin with its three bell towers.
-And returning, Roussillon, an engraving tinted with ochre, red and gold. And of an altogether different style les Alpilles with its orchards of olive trees beckons: Les Baux de Provence with its fortress, then Maussane known for its windmill and oil; Egalyere, discreet hideaway for numerous personalities; St Rémi whose pace of life populates the terraces of its bars and restaurants.
-Not forgetting, of course, Avignon with her ramparts…
